Global asymptotic stability of bistable traveling fronts in reaction-diffusion systems and their applications to biological models

چکیده
This paper deals with the global asymptotic stability and uniqueness (up to translation) of bistable traveling fronts in a class of reaction-diffusion systems. The known results do not apply in solving these problems because the reaction terms do not satisfy the required monotone condition. To overcome the difficulty, a weak monotone condition is proposed for the reaction terms, which is called interval monotone condition. Under such a weak monotone condition, the existence and comparison theorem of solutions is first established for reaction-diffusion systems on R by appealing to the theory of abstract differential equations. The global asymptotic stability and uniqueness (up to translation) of bistable traveling fronts are then proved by the elementary superand sub-solution comparison and squeezing methods for nonlinear evolution equations. Finally, these abstract results are applied to a two species competition-diffusion model and a system modeling man–environment–man epidemics. 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Traveling and Pinned Fronts in Bistable Reaction-Diffusion Systems on Networks
Traveling fronts and stationary localized patterns in bistable reaction-diffusion systems have been broadly studied for classical continuous media and regular lattices. Analogs of such non-equilibrium patterns are also possible in networks. Here, we consider traveling and stationary patterns in bistable one-component systems on random Erdös-Rényi, scale-free and hierarchical tree networks. As r...
متن کاملExistence and stability of traveling wave fronts in reaction advection diffusion equations with nonlocal delay
This paper is concerned with the existence, uniqueness and globally asymptotic stability of traveling wave fronts in the quasi-monotone reaction advection diffusion equations with nonlocal delay. Under bistable assumption, we construct various pairs of superand subsolutions and employ the comparison principle and the squeezing technique to prove that the equation has a unique nondecreasing trav...
متن کاملBistable transition fronts in R
This paper is chiefly concerned with qualitative properties of some reaction-diffusion fronts. The recently defined notions of transition fronts generalize the standard notions of traveling fronts. In this paper, we show the existence and the uniqueness of the global mean speed of bistable transition fronts in RN . This speed is proved to be independent of the shape of the level sets of the fro...
متن کاملCellular Automata Simulation of a Bistable Reaction-Diffusion System: Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches
The Cellular Automata method has been used to simulate the pattern formation of the Schlögl model as a bistable Reaction-Diffusion System. Both microscopic and macroscopic Cellular Automata approaches have been considered and two different methods for obtaining the probabilities in the microscopic approach have been mentioned. The results show the tendency of the system towards the more sta...
متن کاملOn the Existence of Axisymmetric Traveling Fronts in Lotka-volterra Competition-diffusion Systems in R
This paper is concerned with the following two-species LotkaVolterra competition-diffusion system in the three-dimensional spatial space { ∂ ∂t u1(x, t) = ∆u1(x, t) + u1(x, t) [1− u1(x, t)− k1u2(x, t)] , ∂ ∂t u2(x, t) = d∆u2(x, t) + ru2(x, t) [1− u2(x, t)− k2u1(x, t)] , where x ∈ R3 and t > 0. For the bistable case, namely k1, k2 > 1, it is well known that the system admits a one-dimensional mo...
